FedEx enhances connection between Germany and France

FedEx Express has improved its service offerings in Bavaria and Western Austria by operating a Boeing 757 (B757) aircraft between Munich and Paris. Customers from the Munich and Nuremberg metropolitan regions now benefit from later pick-up times of up to one hour for shipments destined for Europe or Asia weighing up to 68 kilograms.

Additionally, transit times for heavy weight shipments destined for Europe or Asia weighing up to 1,000 kilograms are faster by one to two business days.

Furthermore, certain imported shipments from Europe or Asia weighing between 68 and 1,000 kilograms are now being delivered to the Munich area within one business day.

The enhanced service was launched at the end of last month, FedEx announced.

Ingmar Bergman, managing director, Field Sales Germany & Austria, FedEx Express, said: “We are continually working to enhance our services and our new B757 flight between Munich and Paris provides Bavaria and the neighboring areas of Austria with a faster connection to key global markets.

“Export-heavy industries such as vehicle manufacturing, engineering, and electro technology help companies in the Munich and Nuremberg regions reap significant competitive advantages in international business.”

With the B757 flight, FedEx is also increasing its capacity for shipments from Bavaria and Western Austria.

The aircraft flies four times a week from Munich to FedEx hub in Paris, which acts as the European hub for the company’s worldwide network.

The Munich – Cologne route, which has been served to date with an Airbus A310, has also been served by a B757 since end of February.

With the new B757 flights, FedEx is continuing the ongoing process of modernising its aircraft fleet.  In comparison to the A310, the B757 reduces both noise pollution and CO2 emissions by one third.

FedEx has reported all of its environmental measures, targets, and strategies in the form of its EarthSmart environmental programme. The Global Citizenship Report provides detailed information about environmental and social projects of the company.
