Drop goal for USPS: FedEx and USPS deal

The first FedEx drop-box has been installed outside a USPS post office – launching the controversial deal the two have signed. The installation at a Charlotte post office served as the first test market for the FedEx drop-box programme at post offices throughout the country. The trial is part of an historic deal between the USPS and FedEx, which will see the placement of FedEx drop boxes outside post offices and postal service mail carriers covering the ‘last mile’ of residential deliveries for the private courier firm while FedEx Express will use its air fleet to transport Express Mail, Priority Mail and First-Class Mail for the USPS. More drop boxes were set to be placed outside Florida post offices in April and May.
