Kuehne + Nagel awarded six-year frozen warehousing deal

Kuehne + Nagel has won a six-year contract to provide frozen warehousing and distribution operations for Italian retailer Agorà Network.

The logistics company will provide operations for the retailer’s stores across northern Italy that includes brands such as Iperal, Tigros and Poli.

The new agreement represents an extension of the partnership between Agorà and Kuehne + Nagel. Since 2007, the logistics provider has been supporting the retailer’s supply chain optimisation and managing a 45,000 square metre ambient foods warehouse for Agorà in Brignano Gera d’Adda, east of Milan.

According to the new contract, Kuehne + Nagel is in charge of frozen foods inbound services, storage and order preparation at its 12,000 square metre multi-user, temperature-controlled (-28°C) facility in Ca sorate Primo (PV).

It also encompasses road distribution to serve Agorà’s more than 200 points of sales throughout Northern Italy. The distribution centre will handle approximately 1,600,000 cases a year, with more than 700 references.

Warehouse operations are supported by the latest radio frequency and voice picking technology. In addition, Kuehne + Nagel’s team is regularly checking the temperature controlling systems to ensure that all goods are stored at the correct temperature.

”We choose Kuehne + Nagel as partner due to their long experience in chilled and frozen logistics for retailers and manufacturers,” said Antonio Tirelli, CEO of Agorà Network.

“We are delighted about the extension of our successful cooperation. It is our goal to permanently strive for supply chain optimisation and to support our customers with comprehensive logistics services,” said Ruggero Poli, managing director of Kuehne + Nagel Italy.
