Lettershop Postal extends services in Ireland

Dublin-based Lettershop Postal has added to its portfolio of products in light of the liberalisation of the Irish postal market. The alternative postal operator has extended its delivery capability to include lightweight mail items (P format) up to 100g.

Previously, Lettershop Postal had been forced to restrict its delivery service to flats and packets to ensure it remained outside the 50g ‘reserved area’ set aside for national operator An Post.

The opening up of the domestic market, when added to international inbound volumes, has helped the company achieve the levels it required to make a lightweight delivery product viable, it said.

Operating in Dublin for the past 20 years, Lettershop Postal is the largest privately-owned addressed mail delivery business in Ireland, covering the metropolitan areas of Dublin and Cork.

Volumes are currently in excess of 1m pieces per annum and the company said they are “well on the way to doubling that volume over the next few months”.

In addition to lightweight mail, Lettershop Postal has recently rolled-out a “competitive” nationwide distribution product aimed at the UK and foreign publishing markets.

It is offering a combined alternative delivery and direct injection service that includes fulfilment, wrapping, sorting and priority postage – plus linehaul from Colnbrook to Dublin.
