KLM shows the way on speed

The customer pressure on airlines to provide express services is summed up by Andre Mulder,
senior vice president special care for KLM Cargo.
“Customer requirements show that speed is more and more of essence,” he confirmed recently
when explaining that organisation’s current product range.
Reflecting that influence, KLM Cargo has this year further expanded the scope of the Select airport-to-airport product range it introduced in 1999. That portfolio, which is also offered by US alliance partner Northwest Cargo, initially comprised express service Select 100 and two options for less urgent cargo, Select 300 and Select 700.
More recently, two further innovations have been added to that range. First, a
fourth option called Select Crucial was introduced to cater for the transport of very
urgent small shipments. Features of that service include delivery and pick-up times of one hour, priority warehouse handling and ramp transportation, one hour bellyhold-to-bellyhold aircraft transfer at KLM Cargo’s Amsterdam Airport Schiphol hub and a money-back guarantee for any service failure. In a second development, a previous weight restriction of 100kg for the Select 100 service has been lifted. That service offers delivery and pick-up times of three hours, preferred access to capacity and a money back guarantee.
