IndiaTimes.com ties up with overnite, US Postal Service

NEW DELHI, Oct 10 Asia Pulse – indiatimes.com has joined hands with Overnite Express in association with United States Postal Services to launch its new initiative – “US-India messaging”. “With the launch of these services, limited penetration of internet connectivity in the country would not be a limiting factor for Indians in the US to reach out to their friends and relatives in villages, towns or cities,” Mahendra Swarup, chief executive officer of Times Internet, told reporters. The service would allow Indians in the US to log on to indiatimes.com and send an e-mail to anyone located in India, and the message would be hand delivered printed at the doorstep of the recipient. Indians in the US can open an e-mail account on indiatimes and log on to indiatimes-overnite-US Smart Sewa service and send mail of up to 500 words for an addressee in India, Mahendra said adding that the Overnite Express team in Delhi would take a print out and sent the mail in a sealed envelope through itscourier network. “The service would be offered for free initially. And the mail is expected to reach the recepient within one to three working days,” he added. (PTI)
