CHINA POST JOINS HANDS WITH OTHER SECTORS

BEIJING, Oct 12, 2001 (AsiaPort via COMTEX) — Since the 9th of this October, customers can turn in their mobile handsets fee, fulfill insurance policies and enjoy the service of international freight delivery at one place – Beijing Post Office.

The 9th of October is the “international post day”. From this day on, China Post has launched a series of new services.

On the morning of the 9th of this October, Beijing Post Office, Beijing Mobile, the Beijing branch of People’s Insurance Company of China (PICC) and China’s Materials Storing Company jointly signed a cooperation deal in Beijing. According to the deal, post offices will provide new services to customers such as telecom registration, insurance policies fulfilling and international freight delivery.

Liu Liqing, the director with the State Post Office, stated that economy globalization would endow postal services industry with new historical tasks. Based on the advantages of postal network resources, China Post has vowed to vigorously develop logistics as well as information industries.

Besides, by the end of the “10th Five-Year Plan” period, the incomes of electronics information service industry and logistics delivery industry will respectively take over 10% and around 20% of the total income of China Post.
