FedEx to discontinue FedEx Extra Hours service
MEMPHIS, Tenn., Oct 23 (Reuters) – FedEx Corp. (NYSE:FDX – news) on Tuesday said that its FedEx Express unit will soon discontinue a recently launched service that gives customers more time for package drop offs, due to economic challenges and as part of its cost-control measures.

FedEx, the world’s No. 1 air-express package shipper, said Nov. 23 will be the last day packages may be tendered for the FedEx Extra Hours service.

FedEx Extra Hours, launched earlier this year, gave customers in certain areas up to three extra hours to drop off shipments.

The company said it will still give customers the opportunity to ship packages after normal business hours. For example, it noted that a number of FedEx World Service Centers are open until 8 p.m., with some open even later.

Shares of Memphis, Tennessee-based FedEx climbed 27 cents to $38.41 on Monday.
