TNT launches economy express service into Kabul
TNT Express is now providing an Economy Express Import service to Kabul in Afghanistan, helping local business start-ups in the war-torn country’s recovering economy. The service is being run by TNT Express partner Khadamat Post Tent Co. Ltd, which already has established operations in the express delivery market in Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, China and Pakistan.
Khadamat has been a partner for TNT Express since 2003.
The company said its new service would provide reliable alternative to airfreight and economical rates for businesses in Kabul, including multinational firms already established in Afghanistan.
Rafiq Ahmadyar, country general manager for TNT Express in Afghanistan said: “For centuries Afghanistan was considered as the hub connecting Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The Economy Express service perfectly fits the Afghanistan economy which is more focused towarairfreight cgm
TNT said its Economy Express option would prove “very popular” with business start-ups benefitting from the ongoing reconstruction process funded by the international community and supported by local investments.
The company also pointed out that aid agencies were very much in need of convenient delivery services for their shipments.
And for TNT, the new service provides an “entry point into the highly demanding local market”, it said.
“Afghanistan’s large and growing market for basic logistics and transportation services represents a ground-floor opportunity for Express delivery providers,” said Bryan Moulds, Managing Director for TNT Express Middle East.
“TNT Express is in no doubt that Afghanistan has a high demand on imports for industrial materials and consumer products and the requirements for delivery services is expected to increase within the coming few years especially with the continuous infrastructure improvement,” added Moulds.
