FedEx Trade Networks expands operations in Europe and Africa

FedEx Trade Networks has expanded its global operations with new locations in South Africa, Itala and Turkey. The new offices in Johannesburg, Bologna and in Ankara and Izmir follow on from a global expansion at the FedEx freight forwarding division that has been underway since 2008.

After opening 45 offices across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia, the latest expansion round marks the company’s entry into the South African market with its new Johannesburg office.

The new office in Bologna adds to the company’s presence in Italy after a first office was opened in Milan in November 2010.

The offices in Ankara and Izmir mean an expansion of operations in Turkey having opened an office in Istabul in August this year.

Fred Schardt, president and CEO of FedEx Trade Networks, said the expansion meant giving customers better access to important markets.

He said: “FedEx Trade Networks is more than just a freight forwarder, We are in the business of providing solutions and that means giving our customers access to the markets that are most important to them – whether they ship freight via air, ocean or both.”
