UK's Yodel launches international parcel delivery services

UK parcel delivery company Yodel has launched a new international delivery portfolio under the banner Yodel World. The company is offering four new services for parcels, including tracked and non-tracked options for smaller packages, an option for larger parcels and a Europe-specific service tailored for e-commerce shippers.

Yodel is working with a number of European partners to provide the new international portfolio, including Belgium’s bpost international, the international parcel unit of TNT Post and UK-based global logistics specialists KMUK.

The company said teaming up with partners meant it could take advantage of local expertise and resources to allow a service that was “as simple as sending a parcel down the road”.

Jonathan Smith, Yodel chief executive, said: “This move takes Yodel into a new, global market, expanding our portfolio to meet our clients’ and their customers’ demands. Yodel World allows us to provide an efficient and tailored international delivery service that utilises unrivalled delivery resources.”

Yodel, the Hatfield-based company that bought the UK domestic operations of DHL Express last year, currently delivers more than 200m parcels each year in the UK.

The four new services offered under its Yodel World brand begin with Yodel World Mail, which offers an economy option for non-urgent packages under 2kg in weight. The service will be run in conjunction with KMUK Universal Solutions, offering to send a parcel to anywhere in the world within 14 days.

Yodel World Pack is the other service geared towards packages under 2kg in weight, and run in partnership with bpost international will allow senders to track their shipments across the whole delivery chain.

Also working with bpost international, the new option for larger parcels is Yodel World Parcel, which will include tracking and delivery confirmation for parcels up to 30kg in weight.

Finally, the service tailored specifically for e-commerce consumer deliveries across the European Union is Yodel Euro Express Home, which is backed by TNT Post, part of the Dutch postal service PostNL.

Yodel said its Euro Express Home option provides full tracking, insurance and proof of delivery for parcels up to 30kg, offering flat rates for each destination.
