Estonian Post chief executive resigns to join family firm
Estonian Post’s chief executive Ahti Kallaste has resigned in order to take up a position at his family company. The company’s supervisorary council accepted his resignation last week, stating today that his last day will be 29th February, 2012.
Kallaste has been with Estonian Post for five years, but said it was the “right time” to hand over the reigns.
“The company has vigorously started the modernisation of the postal network, but several large projects that have been initiated, remain to be completed,” he said.
“Within five years, the company has become more efficient. I would say that a social enterprise has become a business enterprise.”
Estonian Post said it will launch a recruitment process in early December to find a new CEO.
Contribution
Commenting on Kallaste’s resignation, chairman of the Post’s supervisory council, Meelis Atonen, said the council respected his wish to move into the private sector.
Atonen said: “The Council appreciates the contribution of Ahti Kallaste to the development of the company. Under his leadership management of the company has changed considerably to become clearer and more efficient. He has also carried out several important projects, such as reorganisation of the post office network and the introduction of new e-services.”
Kallaste was a head of the treasury and CFO for the City of Tallinn prior to joining Estonian Post in 2006.
