ABX acquire Dutch Distributor
ABX Logistics, the road transport and logistics arm of state-funded Belgian railways NMBS have purchased Wegtransport BV, one of the strongest distributors in the Netherlands. (11/23/2001)
In 2000 Wegtransport BV had a turnover of 26.6 million euro, and employed a staff of 315. Every day it handles some 7000 parcels. ABX now has a fleet of 290 vehicles, each with their own drivers, for its operations in the Netherlands. ABX has been operating on the Dutch market since 1997. It has branches at Zwijndrecht, Utrecht, Badhoevedorp, Schiphol [Amsterdam] airport, Hoogvliet and Rotterdam. Wegtransport, which has branches in Amsterdam, Breda, Helmond and Hoogeveen, perfectly compliments the existing ABX network in the Netherlands, ABX stated.
Wegtransport BV is also involved in the logistics business. Its IT system will easily lend itself to integration with the system existing at ABX, companies said.
All the Wegtranport operations will be fully integrated into ABX’ existing structures in the Netherlands
