US mailers could save “thousands” with Satori Software add-on

US mailing software provider Satori Software has launched a new add-on for its desktop mailing preparation product Bulk Mailer, which it says will allow mailers to achieve greater postal discounts. The Unlimited Walk Sequence add-on means that mailing lists can be managed so that mailings going into the US Postal Service network can be sorted into the order of addresses along an individual mail carrier’s route.

The new add-on is available for a flat annual fee, with Satori claiming that it can increase discounts on qualified high-density mailings by “at least” 4.2 cents per letter and 15 cents per flat, compared to standard 5-digit automation rates.

That could add up to thousands of dollars in cost savings each year for businesses, utilities, schools, newspapers or municipal authorities, said the software company, especially for dense mailings.

Seattle-based Satori Software said adding the Walk Sequence add-on to its Bulk Mailer system will require few changes to existing settings, and since it is accessed directly through the software it means the extra processing would take generally 15 minutes or less.

Randy Hoefer, the senior vice president of research and product strategy for Satori, said: “Unlimited Walk Sequence processing makes it practical for customers to sort every mailing for the best possible postage, regardless of size.

“Now our customers can offer their clients better service and gain an advantage over competitors,” added Hoefer.

With the US Postal Service currently in the process of restructuring its delivery routes in order to cut costs, Satori Software told Post&Parcel its Walk Sequence system is updated with the latest information from USPS in the same way as the company’s Move Update service.
