Yodel upgrades mobile technology in deal with Ryzex

UK parcel delivery company Yodel is to upgrade the information flow within its network, with 15,000 new hand-held terminals from Ryzex. The company has agreed a contract that will allow Yodel to manage its equipment from a centralised platform.

Liverpool-based Yodel said it is expecting to save a minimum of GBP 500,000 a year through the improved mobile management and resulting improvement in efficiency at its service centres.

Yodel, which handles around 200m parcels each year, said the terminals are its drivers’ main communication device, allowing them to receive instructions and feedback accurate scans on packages.

The new deal with US firm Ryzex follows on from a four-year relationship between the two companies. It will see Ryzex providing asset management services to keep the terminals in top condition, maintained with the latest software levels.

Greg Smith, Yodel’s chief information officer, said his company had been pleased with the advice on his company’s mobility strategy in its years working with Ryzex. ”

Extending our agreement will allow Ryzex to broaden the scope of its support to us and will allow us to enhance the doorstep experience, which is fundamental to Yodel’s service,” he said.

Tony Doyle, managing director at Ryzex, added: “The new agreement confirms our status as a strategic partner for Yodel and consolidates our position as an innovative provider of centralised asset management services for organisations. Our expert advice helps Yodel to maximise uptime and will deliver the insights required to fulfil the potential of their mobile strategy.”
