Schenker to consolidate express and parcel services in Finland

Schenker is set to consolidate its express and parcel services in Finland to one parcel system under the name “Express”. The new company Schenker Express Oy will start operating on January 1, 2002, aiming at an annual turnover of about 62 million euro. (12/19/2001)

Schenker is consolidating operations in many countries, trying to become more cost efficient, and getting a more complete response to customer demands.

According to Risto Lehtikangas, the future managing director of Schenker Express Oy: “Some of our customers need express services, some of them logistic value added services like transit warehousing, pick & pack services and tracking services. The consolidation gives us totally new potential for developing these services. Of course, the scale advantages will show also in the development of our terminal operations.”
