Swedish Post acquires two Dutch parcels Companies
In a move to increase its overnight freight network, the Swedish post office, Posten has bought two Dutch courier firms. The post bought Starintex Road Cargo and Gendringen Expeditie through its own parcel subsidiary HIT AB (Hultberg lnrikes Transporter), to up its reach into Belgium and Germany as well as the Netherlands said a Posten statement.
We can now offer customised transportation of deliveries before 07.00 within and to and from Sweden. Norway, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands and an additional 10 countries including Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium,” said HIT’s CEO, Christer Carlsson. The two Dutch firms have a turnover of approximately SKr50 million and the operations are run in via a network of independent road carriers. The companies transportation network is built up around a main terminal in Gendringen on the border between the Netherlands and Germany. The company is the market leader in the overnight transportation sector for the agricultural industry in the Netherlands.
