Posten Norge co-operates with PNL

Posten Norge, the Norwegian postal service operator, is to focus on the Swedish market in co-operation with Pan Nordic Logistics (PNL), the logistics company owned by Posten Norge and Posten, its Danish counterpart. Up until November this year, Posten in Norway, Denmark and Sweden collaborated on Scandinavian package market and PNL. However, Posten in Sweden has entered an agreement with La Poste of France and broken off all connections with PNL. Posten Norge and PNL are now to concentrate on package post in Sweden and on corporate packages in particular.

The Swedish company’s departure from the Scandinavian co-operation has been seen as a declaration of war and Posten in Sweden had expected PNL to leave the Swedish market. The Norwegian-Danish efforts therefore came as a surprise to the Swedes. Bernt Reitan Jenssen, manager at Posten Norge, said that the company had hoped to enter an agreement with Posten in Sweden concerning rights on the Swedish market. However, the market will now instead be subject to free competition.
