Healthcare deal for PostNL’s newly-acquired trans-o-flex Belgium

PostNL has received good news from its new Belgian Trans-o-flex division, as it pushes through with its acquisition from owner Austrian Post. The Dutch postal company has extended its contract with Belgian over-the-counter medicines provider Omega Pharma for three years, in a deal that involves around 500,000 parcels and 15,000 pallets each year.

Trans-o-flex Belgium, which is transferring to become part of PostNL Parcels along with Trans-o-flex Netherlands under the acquisition announced this month, has been providing Omega Pharma with business-to-business delivery services since 1987.

Initially, the contract was with Transport MIT before that company was acquired by Trans-o-flex Belgium.

PostNL said it was now affirming and reinforcing the ongoing commitment to Omega Pharma, and was now discussing with the company ways to optimise its transport arrangements.

“Trust”

Gerrit Mastenbroek, the general manager at PostNL, said the contract extension demonstrated the trust in the Trans-o-flex service in Belgium.

“The company can look forward to working with a quality contract with a minimum of 98% delivery, something which is unique in this sector,” he said.

“Trans-o-flex Belgium is committed to the further development of this sector and has found a good parent company in PostNL Parcels to facilitate this.”

With its head office in Nazareth, Belgium, Omega Pharma turned over EUR 856.6m in 2010. The firm’s general manager Davy de Vlieger said proper delivery was a “crucial” part of his company’s overall service.

He said: “Trans-o-flex Belgium has been our logistics partner for many years now and we are pleased that we will be able to continue working with them.”
