FedEx transfers headquarters from Hong Kong to China

Chen Jialiang, the CEO of FedEx in China and Asian-Pacific Region said recently that they would transfer their headquarter from HK to Beijing in Feb. this year, which marked that FedEx attached more importance to Chinese market than ever. According to the introduction, many multinational logistics companies like FedEx favored Chinese market. After 9.11 Event, Chinese market could still keep a high growth rate, which attracted many multinational logistics companies to transfer their business emphasis to China.

The business of FedEx developed greatly in Asian-Pacific regions, especially in China, which contributed to the determination to transfer their business center to China. In April 2001, FedEx add new flight from Shanghai to America, which enabled FedEx to possess the most Chinese flights, and made Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen as well as their surrounding areas joining into their service network.

By the end of 2001, the service network of FedEx has already covered 202 cities in China, and which is estimated to increase to 300 cities in the following five years. BY the beginning of this year, FedEx’s staffs in China has been doubled. currently, there many international logistics companies established their headquarters in Shanghai and Beijing.
