FedEx Express extends cut-off time for Taiwan deliveries

FedEx Express is extending the call-in cut-off time for outbound shipments from Taiwan to Europe and Africa, to as late as 19:00. The company said effective immediately, its customers in Taiwan would enjoy additional time and flexibility when preparing their outbound shipments to Europe and Africa.

The service improvement is applicable to FedEx International Priority and FedEx International Economy shipments from Taiwan to major destinations in Europe and Africa on weekdays, the company said on Monday.

Europe was Taiwan’s fourth largest business partner in 2011. In the same year, Taiwan shipped goods totaling US$2.9 billion to Africa, a significant growth of 32.1% from 2010. Emerging markets in Africa were regions where Taiwan exports experienced the biggest growth in 20115.

Michael Chu, FedEx Taiwan managing director, said his company was supporting local businesses, making strategic investments in response to customer needs.

He said: “Despite a challenging economic environment in Europe, Taiwan remains a strong trading partner with the EU and trade between the two markets in 2011 climbed more than 10% year-on-year6. With FedEx in-depth international experience, we are well-positioned to help Taiwan businesses trade more competitively in the global marketplace.”
