New Zealand Post Buys Into Software Firm
New Zealand Post, New Zealand’s national postal service, has further expanded its technology and e-commerce interests with the purchase of a stake in a software company.
New Zealand Post said today it has taken a 16 percent stake in Viatx Ltd, which provides software used to build e-commerce-enabled Web sites.
The purchase price was not disclosed, but the company said it has an option to increase its holding to 50 percent.
Viatx targets small and medium-sized companies, renting them software used to manage and update their e-commerce sites.
New Zealand Post is also going after the same market, expanding on its traditional services to include electronic document management, Internet marketing and online bill payments.
“We will also investigate creating synergies between Viatx and New Zealand Post’s other e-commerce companies,” said Paul Robinson of New Zealand Post’s letters and enterprises group, in a prepared statement.
The postal service has interests in e-mail marketing through online messaging provider MessageMedia NZ Ltd, and in electronic document management through Silent One.
