Modern Postal Service “At Heart Of Rural Ireland”

Motor tax payments, driving license applications, rail ticket purchases and increased banking facilities could all soon be available at your local post office, according to Fine Gael T.D. and Chairman of the Transport and Communications Committee Tom Hayes At last week’s Committee meeting Deputy Hayes established a working group on the future of the Irish postal network.

“I am firmly of the belief that the Post Office can and should be at the heart of rural communities, right across the country. That is why I have begun working on a report to be presented to the Minister for Communications, Energy & Natural Resources that will set out how best to modernise the Irish postal service to ensure its success into the future,” said Deputy Hayes.
