Jersey Post boosts tourism with free postage-paid postcards

Tourists visiting the Channel Island of Jersey this month are able to send postcards from the island free of charge, under a promotional initiative from Jersey Post. Limited edition postage-paid free postcards are being circulated through the island’s hotels and post offices, featuring photographs of iconic Jersey scenes.

The postcard campaign, tagged “Love Jersey? Tell someone for free”, has been developed by the Post in partnership with Jersey Tourism, and aims to promote Jersey as a travel destination.

Jersey Post said the campaign also aimed to highlight the value of people receiving a handwritten piece of mail, in the light of declining letter and postcard volumes.

Kevin Keen, the Jersey Post chief executive, said the campaign was part of his company’s social and economic responsibility to island life.

“This initiative is designed to support one of our key industry sectors, which is facing considerable challenges at the present time. We hope that by giving both visitors and locals an opportunity to write about their experiences in Jersey, in the easiest possible way, that we can help stimulate interest in visiting the island.”

Postcards on the campaign must be posted by the end of August and are being limited to one per customer, however additional postage-paid postcards are available from post offices for 55p each.

Simon Le Huray, marketing manager at Jersey Tourism, said August was the island’s busiest month, when more than 50,000 visitors were expected.

“Thanks to Jersey Post, this summer they will be able to send a free postcard to their family and friends about the wonderful time they are having in the island, and help promote Jersey at the same time,” he said. “
