Haiti Post Office is restructuring
During the month of August Ms. Régine Godfrey, the new Director General of the Haiti Post Office (OPH) has performed a series of inspections, at the level of Post offices in Arcahaie, Saint Marc, Gonaîves, Cap Haitien, Ouanaminthe, Fort Liberté, Hinche and Mirebalais. The visit of various regional premises of the Post revealed the precarious structure and state the of Haitian postal network. Ms. Godfrey has reaffirmed its commitment to re-addressing the finance, image and the inter-regional logistics of the national postal network, by putting in place a plan of modernization, of dynamization and for restructuring the OPH that will take into account the provinces, within the framework of the vision instated by the current government, this vision being a decentralization of state services.
In addition, the new Director of the OPH, has held a meeting with Ms. Maider Makua Garcia, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Spain. This meeting was an opportunity for the Director to present its comprehensive plan to modernize the postal service in Haiti.
In this working session, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Spain, is committed to coordinate an official meeting between the Director General of the OPH and his Spanish counterpart to formalize a bilateral agreement concerning mail, during the next congress of the Universal Postal Union, to be held in Doha, Qatar in September.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Ms. Maider Makua Garcia, indicated that the Embassy was ready to use the Haiti Post Office for its mail processing needs.
