FedEx Express rolls out Priority Alert service to 70 countries
FedEx Express is rolling out its “Priority Alert” monitoring service for time- and temperature-sensitive shipments to more than 70 countries around the world. The Memphis-based integrator said on Monday that it will be introducing both Priority Alert and premium version Priority Alert Plus on a number of international routes, and also for domestic shipments within Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, India and Canada.
The contract-only services had previously been available only for the United States.
FedEx Priority Alert packages are wrapped in bright pink tape to denote priority status when being loaded and unloaded.
Along with fast delivery, the service promises a high level of visibility, monitoring and intervention where required. A team of analysts is on hand to monitor shipments and notify customers on the status of items.
The service is targeted at customers mainly in the healthcare, financial, industrial and electronic sectors.
FedEx Priority Plus offers additional proactive recovery features where needed, mainly for healthcare shipments, including the replenishment of dry ice, gel pack reconditioning and access to cold storage to protect the integrity of sensitive contents.
Carl Asmus, vice president for market development for FedEx, said: “While speed and reliability are key requirements for today’s global supply chains, providing end-to-end visibility with 24/7 monitoring and recovery measures meets another vital requirement – agility.
“With the global expansion of out Priority Alert services we can improve customer service by offering priority boarding and monitoring services for their critical international shipments.”
