DHL Express named Empost’s international logistics provider
DHL Express has signed up to a strategic partnership to work with Empost, the express delivery division of Emirates Post Group. The agreement will see DHL becoming the official logistics partner for Empost, handling all international shipments on behalf of Empost international services.
A second component of the deal will see DHL benefiting from the retail presence of Empost in the United Arab Emirates, and the physical network of 125 Empost retail outlets there.
DHL has also promised to provide training for Empost employees, and the deal holds open the possibility of further developments for both companies in future.
Empost has been running since May 1997, with 800 staff across the UAE and a fleet of more than 550 vehicles.
The DHL deal follows the expansion of the company from a local courier company into a domestic and international express provider, catering to both the public and private sectors.
Long-term
Sultan Al Midfa, the Empost chief executive, said the agreement with DHL Express was a long-term strategy to support current business and future developments.
He said the deal would be particularly beneficial to clients with international requirements.
“Our selection of DHL Express was made due to their long history in the UAE market and their global presence,” he said. “Under the agreement, Empost will have an electronic link to DHL to enable tracking of parcels through the Empost website.”
Al Midfa also highlighted the planned training cooperation between the two companies, saying: “We have a plan to upgrade the skills of our employees by leveraging the DHL experience.”
Frank-Uwe Ungerer, country manager for DHL Express in the UAE, who attended a special signing ceremony at DHL offices in Dubai last week, said the two companies were looking forward to a “long and prosperous” partnership.
“Our partnership with Empost is a perfect fit that supports our active commitment to collaborate with local businesses and nurture the UAE’s growth across the courier services industry,” he said.
