Geodis UK launches delivery services to northern Germany
Geodis has launched a new range of direct services delivering from the UK to Germany, building on increased demand from UK exporters. The company’s Geodis UK unit has introduced four new services alongside the existing daily services it already provides with its partner Cargoline.
They include a new daily round-trip service to Hanover in northern Germany, to Ense near Dortmund, and services to Hamburg and Bremen.
Geodis said the services would deliver door-to-door within 48 hours.
Services are being operated with the company’s partner for northern Germany, the Bursped Group.
Geodis UK already provides a range of direct services from the UK to Freiburg, Schweinfurt, Nuremburg and Stuttgart in Germany.
The new services follow on from similar new services launched earlier this year between the UK and Italy, Spain and Portugal.
Jamie Cuthbert, managing director of Geodis UK, said the daily services were already proving to be valuable to customers, providing further opportunity for growth in future.
Geodis said its Eurotop and Eurofirst services, which offer guaranteed delivery in 48 hours to key European destinationa, with online tracking in support, had proved “extremely successful” since being launched in 2010.
In the UK, Geodis Calberson has 340 employees and 65 independent licensees in the Fortec Distribution Network, which specialises in pallet deliveries. The company is part of the international Geodis group, owned by French state railway company SNCF, which recently signed ex-TNT chief Marie-Christine Lombard as its new chief executive.
