Brazil and France to share experience on postal services
Brazil and France have pledged to work more closely to share experience and best practice in the area of postal services. During Brazil’s State Visit to France yesterday, Brazil Post and La Poste agreed to work together in various areas.
Priorities are to collaborate on mail transportation issues, parcel services, sustainable development and financial services.
in the presence of Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff and French president Francoise Hollande, the agreement was signed by La Poste chairman Jean-Paul Bailly and Brazil Post president Wagner Pinheiro de Oliveira.
Among the areas of potential collaboration, the French postal service agreed to share its experiences transporting mail through France’s high-speed train network. Brazil has been talking for a while about developing a “bullet train” link connecting cities like Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
Brazil Post has recently been tasked by the federal government with an important role advising on the development of the national transport infrastructure.
During yesterday’s meeting, the two posts also agreed to partner in areas including digital technology and the universal postal service, as well as how to cope with major international events like the World Cup. Brazil is due to host both the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016.
“The partnership aims to promote the exchange of information between the two institutions with the holding of forums, seminars and meetings to identify areas that may generate more specific projects and partnerships,” said Brazil’s Ministry of Communications.
