Danzas' Intercontinental and logistics arms record double-digit growth
Danzas, the forwarding and logistics major owned by Deutsche Post, reported double-digit growth in 2001 at Danzas AEI Intercontinental, its ocean and air freight forwarding arm, and Danzas Solutions, its integrated logistics services business unit. Danzas AEI Intercontinental increased net sales by 14 percent last year, to EUR 4.4 billion (USD 3.9 billion). Primary objectives at Danzas AEI Intercontinental for 2002 include cost management and expansion of the network structure in growth markets such as Eastern Europe, India and China, the Danzas group said. Danzas Solutions, the group’s logistics arm, achieved the highest growth rate within the Danzas group, with a 21% increase in net sales last year, to EUR1.5 billion (USD 1.3 billion). Danzas’ third business unit, European land transport provider Eurocargo, increased its net sales 2% last year, to EUR 3.3 billion (USD 2.9 billion). Deutsche Post reported that its logistics division, Danzas, saw its operating profit rise 41% to EUR 159 million (USD 141.5 million) last year, on revenue of EUR 9.2 billion (USD 8.2 billion), up 10%.
