Following a tender process and site visit to Exel’s multi-user Trafford Park facilities, PBT Global, a distributor of a range of industrial products, primarily for the construction industry, has awarded their UK warehousing and distribution operations to Exel, the provider of supply chain solutions. (4/9/2002)

PBT Global distributes products for a major supplier,‘ Vivacity Engineering Pty Ltd’, based in Thornleigh, New South Wales. ‘Vivacity’ products have been distributed throughout New Zealand for a number of years. Vivacity have decided to extend their marketing to the UK on a selected range of products and have been instrumental in setting up the company PBT Global in order to achieve this. The principal product to be launched in the UK is ‘Megapoxy’, an industrial adhesive for fixing architectural fascia on new and existing buildings. This form of fixative has been successfully utilised in the Pacific Rim for the past two decades.

Exel is providing PBT Global with the full range of supply chain services including, shipping from Australia to the UK, haulage from port to its Trafford Park facility, storage, picking, packing and onward distribution. As volumes increase Exel has the opportunity to interface with the ‘Sage’ accounting system utilised by PBT Global to allow transparency of operations.

PBT Global was introduced to Exel in the UK by Exel’s Freight Forwarding team in New Zealand. The business has been awarded due to the benefits of Exel’s integrated, global supply chain service and the excellent facilities at Trafford Park. The quality of the people involved in the process gave PBT Global the confidence of delivery of a professional service and excellent relationships.

In June 2001, Exel commenced a structured marketing campaign for its shared user warehousing and drum filling facility at Trafford Park, Manchester. The warehouse, which is open for third party business, is situated at the Great Lakes Chemical Corporation’s site, a major existing client.
