Ocado keeps on rolling
Ocado, the home shoping service backed by John Lewis Partnership, has had a “very successful launch“ according to a company spokesman. The service was launched to 100,000 homes in the Hemel Hampstead area on 23 January and so far more than 1,000 have signed up. “It is proving very popular with shoppers, many of whom are taking advantage of the free delivery when they spend £75 or more. Were very pleased with the roll-out and are on track for a staggered roll-out inside the M25 before we more to a new warehouse in Hatfield in July“ he says. The new warehouse will be the first semi-automated picking centre of its kind in the UK and the largest in the world, says Ocado.
