TNT Express earned profit of SKK 4.8 mln

Courier Company TNT Express Worldwide s.r.o., Bratislava, (TNT) grossed SKK 4.8 million last year. “The company’s turnover in mail service soared by 92 percent to SKK 123 million over the year. The original plan counted on 60-percent turnover growth,” finance director of company Katarina Baginova told SITA.

TNT is the third largest courier company in Slovakia in the sector of express distribution, logistics as well as providing mail services. It employs 78 people and runs 34 motor vehicles. Among its largest clients are Volkswagen, Molex, Honeywell and Sony.

In 2000 TNT reported a turnover of SKK 65 million, but it ended the year in the red. It transported 50,292 mail parcels with aggregate weight of 1.19 million kilograms.

TNT belongs to the TNT Post Group N.V. (TPG) based in Amsterdam. TPG’s profit grew 23.9 percent to EUR 1.017 billion last year. The turnover of the group swelled by 12.9 percent to EUR 11.2 billion when the company in the Express division transported 186.7 million pieces of mail with total weight of over 3 2 million tons. TPG was set up in 1946 in Australia and it employs 138,500 people worldwide.
