An Post Unveils Its PostPoint Service
An Post has launched it PostPoint service that allows users to access electronic-based payment and postal services in the local convenience store
Over (Lisbon: CAIP.IN – news) the past 18 months An Post has deployed electronic payment terminals in almost 3,000 shops nationwide.
PostPoint, a fully-branded outlet-based delivery channel, builds on this network to offer consumers a range of payment facilities and postal services.
Through this national network of sho- based locations, in partnership with community-based retailers, PostPoint will deliver a growing range of services.
The PostPoint terminal can handle online, barcode, smartcard and magnetic swipe based transactions.
Through this system PostPoint retailers are able to offer their customers pre paid electronic top ups on behalf of Vodafone (London: VOD.L – news – msgs) , O2, Meteor and Swiftcall.
All PostPoint branded outlets will offer customers postage stamp booklets and peel’n stick stamp boxes.
PostPoints can also accept debit and credit cards at point of sale using their PostPoint service terminal eliminating the need for bank acquiring terminals at their outlets.
Speaking at the launch, Eamonn Ryan, managing director of An Post’s Post Offices Division, said: Today we add to the service range with the launch of bill payments at PostPoint and commence the rollout of the fully branded PostPoint retail concept.
Our first branded PostPoint outlet, the Londis TopShop in Parnell Street, Dublin, commenced bill payment services with the acceptance of barcoded card payments on behalf of Bord Gais, NTL (NYSE: NLI – news) , Dublin City Council, all the Dublin county councils and Family Album.
Over the coming weeks PostPoint will host bill payments on behalf of eircom, Bord Gais, NTL, Chorus, O2, Vodafone, Family Album and many of the counties local authorities for rent and service charges as these apply barcodes to their bill documentation.
Details of billpPayments made at PostPoint outlets will be electronically transferred to our utility clients on the next working day.
We expect to offer our retail partners significant volumes of transactions through PostPoint over the next 12 months.
