TNT Express wins contract from Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services

TNT Express has been awarded a contract from Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services (LBAS) to transport mission-critical aircraft parts in Germany. As part of the deal, TNT Express collects the parts from Bombardier’s warehouse in Groß-Gerau late in the evening (between 10 and 11 p.m.) and delivers them to LBAS’ aircraft maintenance engineers and mechanics in Berlin Schoenefeld Airport the next morning before 6 a.m.

These employees service, repair and overhaul Bombardier® Business Jets. They start their working day at6:00am. The consistent and timely delivery of aircraft spare parts to them is critical to prevent the occurrence of costly “Aircraft on Ground” (AOG) situations, a term in aviation maintenance indicating that a problem is serious enough to prevent an aircraft from flying.

TNT Express has been selected for its ability to make late collections and direct, daily road deliveries to LBAS employees in Berlin Schoenefeld Airport. LBAS wanted to be able to place orders late in the day.

The service provided by TNT includes the simultaneous handling of various weights and sizes, from parcels to pallets, including materials qualifying as “dangerous goods.” To meet LBAS’ request for proposal, TNT Express offered a combination of special services, time critical services and direct deliveries.
