Deutsche Post says 6.5 pct union demand 'Unrealistic'

Deutsche Post AG said it will offer its workers a pay rise at the next scheduled round of wage negotiations on June 10 and 11 but warned the ver.di union’s demand for a 6.5 pct pay rise is “unrealistic”.

The company did not say how much it is offering.

Ver.di said today that postal workers will hold warning strikes from tomorrow after two failed rounds of pay talks.

The strikes will disrupt some postal services, the union said.

“We will certainly discuss the union’s demands and put our offer on the table,” a Deutsche Post spokesman said.

However, in a statement, Deutsche Post described the union’s wage demands as “unrealistic.”
