InPost launches parcel lockers in Malaysia
The InPost parcel locker network continues its Asian expansion with the key partners in Malaysia. Skynet, a national courier company, will provide logistic services and the other key partner will be ISIS Logistic, which will serve e-stores and e-commerce platforms. From November 2014, the InPost parcel locker solution will allow Malaysian consumers to collect their online purchases from convenient locations 24/7. InPost Malaysia will be supported by a local partner Impressive Communications Sdn. Bhd. – an IT solutions integrator. The rollout of the InPost parcel lockers will start with installations in Kuala Lumpur at PETRONAS Stations’ Kedai Mesra and at Tesco hypermarkets. The first stage will reach a total of 140 of the automatic lockers deployed across the KlangValley by the end of 2014. It is expected that the national network will reach 350 installed automated terminals by 2016 and will be available in such location as shopping malls, universities and residential areas/compounds.
“We are continuing to implement our strategy of the intensive expansion of the InPost parcel locker network in Asia. This region will soon be the world’s largest e-commerce market and we as the global leader in automated parcel networks have decided to make a strong commitment to the region. Malaysia is one of the seven ‘Asian Tigers’, and it is also a strategic market for further entry into South East Asia thanks to the market’s maturity and openness to innovation. Taken together, Malaysia and Singapore generate almost 50% of e-commerce sales in South East Asia despite barely representing 8% of its total population1. Malaysia and the region represent a vital part with regard to the expansion of our international parcel locker network.”, says Rafal Brzoska, CEO of InPost.
“Cooperation with InPost Malaysia will extend our offer to include innovative forms of product delivery, this is essential in a dynamically expanding market like e-commerce. InPost parcel lockers will enable us to optimise the cost of delivery, especially for larger volume orders.”, commented Teo Bee Yap, Skynet Executive Director.
“We have great confidence in the success of InPost parcel lockers in Malaysia. We have finalised our primary partnerships in this market and all the major e-retailers are looking forward to integrating our network into their delivery options.”, says Christian Secci, Managing Director at InPost Malaysia.
