Canon inks contract with Maersk Logistics
Maersk Logistics has been awarded the contract for the warehousing and distribution operations of Canon Consumer Imaging in the Nordic area. (5/29/2002)
‘Through the agreement with Maersk Logistics, Canon takes its first step towards centralizing warehousing and distribution in the European region. Maersk Logistics will consolidate the activities for Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, replacing the national operations with a single Nordic hub in Gothenburg, Sweden. This will ensure a consistent, high level of service and make the operation more costefficient.
Ed Meergartt, General Manager Logistics Operations Canon Europe NV in the Netherlands, says, ‘The three cornerstones of our cooperation are Predictability, Punctuality and Partnership.’ One of the main reasons for selecting Maersk Logistics was the company’s long experience in third party logistics (3PL) for both local and international companies.
Furthermore, the Maersk Logistics warehouse in Gothenburg offers location by a port with direct connections to Asia, closeness to an international freight airport, and a geographically central location in the Nordic area.’
Maersk Logistics and Canon have together developed the distribution and warehousing operations, customized to meet specific Canon requirements. René Seidel, Managing Director Maersk Logistics Sverige AB, says, ‘The cooperation with Canon has developed into a working partnership where both parties have learned a lot from one another, and we are pleased to have laid a solid foundation for the future’.
