New Zealand Post’s YouShop service passes 100,000 customer mark
The number of customers using New Zealand Post’s YouShop service passed 100,000 this week. The overseas parcel-forwarding service provides Kiwis with a delivery address in the United Kingdom and United States so they can shop online and have their purchases shipped back to New Zealand. A delivery address in China will be added to the service within the next two months.
New Zealand Post’s Executive General Manager Ecommerce and Customer Solutions, Sohail Choudhry, said the growth in customers signing up to YouShop was very pleasing since the service launched in the US two years ago. Equally important was the ongoing growth in repeat purchases.
“There has been continued growth in customer numbers month on month. And significantly, more customers are coming back to use YouShop repeatedly to ship their online purchases home, so that means sustainable growth.
“June and July 2014 were the fasting growing months on record, with the number of parcels coming though YouShop up by a record 8%. Since March, volumes are up 45% from the UK and up 18% from the USA.”
YouShop launched with a US address in September 2012 and the UK was added in August 2013.
“More customers are connecting with New Zealand Post digitally and the two things driving growth, after price, are choice and convenience,” Dr Choudhry said.
“We are committed to providing customers with excellent service though continuous innovation. Recent YouShop feature enhancements, including parcel search, push notifications for mobile users and flexible pickup and delivery choices to Postshop or ParcelPods, are a response to what our customers want.”
YouShop China will be launched in October and a consolidation option for users which will enable items bought from different retailers within a country to be repacked as single parcel is also being developed.
YouShop is one of a number of ecommerce and digital solutions being developed by New Zealand Post. The company has recently renewed its focus on providing New Zealand companies with ecommerce support and services.
