No more missed deliveries for Austria Post customers

Austria Post has installed 8000 receiving boxes to enable customers who have missed deliveries to access their packages and certified mail without leaving their residence If a shipment cannot be delivered, the postman deposits it in a receiving box (or RX) and notifies the recipient with a notification card.  The recipient can then use the card to open the receiving box. Depending on the size of the box it can take this up to 95% of all shipments.
Austria Post reports that the RX is very well accepted by customers as particularly at Christmas it saves them time. They anticipate that by the end of the year up to half a million shipments will be inserted into receiving boxes. They predict a million will be within reach.
The boxes are primarily being used in urban areas –   about 80% of the boxes have been installed in Vienna, followed by the provincial capitals. The expansion will continue later this year, with up to 300 additional boxes and next year, about 4,000 in Austria.

The Mail Receiving is a part of Austria Post’s innovation drive, in order to expand the service to the end customer and to make sending and receiving even easier and more convenient. This includes the 225 SB-zones and more than 100 stations throughout the post offices, where around the clock many postal services are possible.
