10,000 new parcel delivery jobs for Deutsche Post DHL

Deutsche Post DHL is to create several thousands of jobs by 2020 as a result of continued sustainable growth in the parcel business. By 2025 the total number of new jobs could be as high as 20,000. New parcel delivery companies are to be founded under the umbrella of DHL Delivery GmbH and these companies will be recruiting suitable employees over the coming weeks and months. Staff working in the new companies shall be employed in line with the regionally applicable collective terms and conditions for the forwarding and logistics sector, as negotiated between industry employers’ associations and the trade union ver.di. The conditions in question substantially exceed minimum wage requirements.

Existing Deutsche Post AG employment contracts shall remain unaffected.

Permanent employment contracts

The first companies are to start recruiting new employees straight away. During the recruitment process, favour will be given to Deutsche Post AG employees on a fixed-term contract which is soon to expire. Employees will be offered a permanent employment contract.

The first regions in which the new companies will take over designated parcel delivery districts include Rostock, Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen, Frankfurt am Main, Wiesbaden, Nuremberg and Karlsruhe.

“For many years, we have been guaranteeing that everyone in Germany can benefit from a postal infrastructure which is, even by international standards, of exceptional quality – whilst also offering by far the best working conditions in our industry. And we aim to carry on doing so.” commented Board Member, Jürgen Gerdes. “In light of the significant discrepancy in wage costs with our competitors, we are, however, not able to realize this with the existing wage structure. Whilst giving our parcel business a strong, future-proof foundation, these new companies afford us the opportunity to create new, attractive and above all permanent jobs with competitive wages – without infringing upon the salaries of existing employees.”
