eBay plans to expand Click & Collect service in Europe
eBay has revealed plans to expand its Click & Collect service in the UK – where it has been working with Argos for the past 18 months – and also further across Europe. In an interview conducted at Bloomberg’s European headquarters in London, eBay’s senior vice president for Europe Paul Todd said that the company was looking at all kinds of partnerships to boost its presence.
The Click & Collect service running with Argos, which covers about 150 stores in the UK, is used by about 160,000 eBay merchants and has generated a throughput of more than 1.5 million parcels. Expanding the existing relationship with Argos’ parent company Home Retail Group Plc to include Homebase stores was a possible option, Todd told Bloomberg.
The eBay SVP added that working with UK supermarkets to fill some of the “surplus space” in their stores could be also a “huge opportunity”.
