Groundbreaking ceremony for new logistics centre in Xian
Property developer Goodman Group held a groundbreaking ceremony last week for its Xian North Logistics Centre in Western China, whose first customer will be SF Express. Goodman will develop a 22,000 square metre built-to-suit facility for SF Express – one of China’s leading domestic logistics distribution and express delivery services providers. This is half of the leasable area in the first phase of the development.
This will be the fourth development that Goodman has undertaken for SF Express, which has committed to a total of 105,000 square metres within the Goodman portfolio, across Tianjin, Chongqing, Hefei and now Xian.
Hou Wenyan, President of Western China Region for SF Express said, “As we continue to expand our business in China, we are placing greater emphasis on the development of the northwestern region.”
Goodman Xian North Logistics Centre is located in the Xian Economic and Technological Development Zone, with convenient access to major expressways. It is also close to the Xian Xianyang International Airport.
Once fully developed the site will comprise five single-storey warehouses, providing a total of 93,100 square metres of logistics space, with an estimated end value of RMB360 million. It will be developed in two phases, with the 44,400 square metre first phase to be completed in January 2016.
