New courier licensing system planned for UAE
Emirates Post officials recently met with representatives of international courier companies to discuss the new licensing system by which they can operate in the UAE.
Director-General Abdullah Al Daboos said the new system provides more facilities and privileges to investors to open courier service franchises here.He discussed queries raised by the representatives regarding the new system and noted Emirates Post will continue to support the courier service business for their smooth running.
“Exchanging viewpoints and ideas will serve customers and companies alike,” he said, adding the organisation is keen on following through the proposals presented.
“We are pleased to swap ideas with these experienced courier companies and our first priority is to try and implement the proposals as long as they aim at enhancing the postal services,” he added.
The Board of Directors of Emirates Post, headed by Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of Communications, had earlier endorsed the new system that stipulates the licensing mechanism for companies wishing to provide courier facilities for documents, packages and letters.
The new system regulates the procedures to obtain a licence in addition to the responsibilities of the courier services and other regulations, including penalties.
