Russian Post signs deal to deliver JD.com goods
Russian Post has signed an agreement with China’s JD.com to deliver goods bought on the en.jd.com website to consumers in Russia. Russian Post has a network of around 42,000 post offices.
“The addition of Russian Post, the largest logistics company with the widest network of branches across the country, as a JD.com authorized carrier will allow us to ensure prompt and reliable delivery of goods to Russian customers,” said Victor Xu, the CEO of JD.com’s international business unit.
JD.com has reportedly also signed a delivery contract with the Russian logistics operator SPSR Express.
Russian Post announced the deal in a statement published on its website on 29 July.
Today (7 August), JD.com reported a net revenue of $7.4bn for the second quarter (Q2) of 2015, up 61% on last year’s performance. Despite this revenue increase, the company made a net loss of $82.3m.
