Challenges facing USPS are “serious, but solvable”, says Senator Carper
Responding to the financial losses posted by the United States Postal Service (USPS) on Monday, Senator Tom Carper said that the challenges ahead were “serious, but solvable”. Senator Tom Carper, ranking member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and frequent participant in Congressional debates on the postal service, said that the latest quarterly report from USPS “underscores that the only way to alleviate the Postal Service’s financial challenges and preserve its opportunity to grow in the digital age is for Congress to pass comprehensive postal reform legislation”.
As previously reported, a number of Senator Carper’s colleagues in the US Senator have recently introduced the Postal Innovation Act, which includes proposals for generating new revenue streams for the USPS.
