Australia Post issues notice to Sendle

Australia Post has issued a trademark infringement notice against parcel delivery start-up Sendle over its “Post without the Office” tagline, according to local sources. An article published by The Australian today (24 August) said that Australia Post has objected to the Sendle’s tagline for being “substantially identical” and “deceptively similar” to the national postal operator’s own trademarks.

The Australian quoted James Chin Moody, CEO of Sendle, as saying: “It’s very clear we’re not the post office, it’s pretty ridiculous.

“It’s an example of a monopoly provider trying to use its market power to reduce competition.”

The newspaper claimed that Australia Post has confirmed that it is involved in an ongoing matter with the trademarks office but declined to comment further.
