Amazon offering Sunday deliveries in Twin Cities region

Amazon is now making Sunday deliveries in Minnesota’s Twin Cities region, according to local reports. The Minnesota-base Star Tribune reported yesterday (3 September) that Amazon “soft launched” the Sunday delivery service in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis-Saint Paul) after it opened its new 150,000-square-foot “sortation centre” in Shakopee.

This package sorting facility is just a few miles away from the site where Amazon is currently building a new 820,000-square-foot fulfillment centre, according to the Star Tribune.

“It’s because of the sortation center network that we’re able to offer Sunday delivery for our customers,” Nina Lindsey, an Amazon spokesperson was quoted as saying. “We are now able to offer Sunday delivery to a majority of the US population.”

The first Sunday deliveries were made in selected areas of the Twin Cities on 16 August and the service has since been expanded across the region.
