FedEx to increase shipping rates by 4.9%

FedEx has announced that it will be increasing the shipping rates for its Express, Ground and Freight Services. FedEx Express will be raising its shipping rates by an average of 4.9% for US domestic, US export and US import services.

FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight and FedEx Home Delivery will also increase their shipping rates by an average of 4.9%, and FedEx SmartPost rates will be going up as well.

The new shipping rates will come into effect on 4 January 2016.

In a statement issued yesterday (15 September), FedEx added that it will be increasing the surcharges for shipments that exceed the published maximum dimensions (aka “unauthorized packages”) in the FedEx Ground network. It will also be updating its fuel surcharge tables for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground. Details of these fuel surcharge changes will be made available on 23 September, and they will come into effect on 2 November.
