Sears appoints new fulfilment chief
Sears Holdings Corporation has appointed former Amazon exec Girish Lakshman to head up its fulfilment operations. Lakshman will be “president, Fulfillment” (to give him his official title, complete with US spelling).
The move has been hailed as saying of a coup by US retail media, as Lakshman worked for Amazon for 15 years and most recently served as vice president of Worldwide Transportation Strategy, Technology and Customer Returns.
In a statement issued by Sears yesterday (21 September), Edward S. Lampert, Sears Holdings’ Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented: “Girish’s strong operational discipline, process thinking and experience leading change make him a strong fit for Sears Holdings.
“He will work closely with me and our supply chain and inventory management leaders to enhance our members’ experiences and support our transformation as an integrated retailer.”
